# Discover and read (https://docs.commonplot.co/en/user/discover/)

Discover is the commonplot home page. It lists curated public content: blogs and news, X posts, forum threads such as Hacker News, YouTube videos, and academic papers. You can browse and read without signing in.

## Search and filter [#search-and-filter]

**Search:** type in **Search resources**. Recent searches are stored only in this browser, and you can clear them.

**Filter by type:** switch **All types** to Blog, Post, Forum, Video, or Paper.

**Sort:** **Published** orders by the original publication date; **Added** orders by when the content entered commonplot.

## Read an item [#read-an-item]

Selecting a card opens the reader, which shows the author, source, language, publication date, type, and length. Depending on the type, you also get:

| Type | The reader shows |
| --- | --- |
| Articles and blogs | Summary, full text, and the original link |
| YouTube videos | The video, chapters, and **Transcript** |
| X posts | The post's text, images, or video |
| Papers | Authors, **Cite** (citation formats and DOI), and Open PDF |

### Bilingual reading and translation [#bilingual-reading-and-translation]

For content in another language, switch between **Original**, **Bilingual**, and a translation into your interface language. On the Free plan, translating a full text is one click and uses AI usage; on Pro, full texts are translated automatically when you save them.

### Entities and related content [#entities-and-related-content]

The reader marks people, products, organizations, works, and events mentioned in the text. Open one to see other content that mentions it.

## Save what you read [#save-what-you-read]

Choose **Save** on a card or in the reader. The item goes to your **Saved resources**, or you can pick a notebook under **Choose save destination**. See [Save articles, papers, and videos](https://docs.commonplot.co/en/user/saving/).

To add something that isn't in Discover, use **Create** → **New resource** to paste a link or upload a file.
