Profile and privacy

What your public commonplot profile shows, who can see notebooks and documents, and how to manage sign-in, connected apps, and account deletion.

commonplot decides visibility per kind of content; there is no single switch. This page explains who sees what and how to manage your account.

Who can see what

ContentDefaultNotes
Links you save (articles, videos, posts, papers)PublicListed under Saved resources on your profile
Uploaded PDFs and imagesPrivateOnly you can see them
NotebooksPrivateTurn off Make private to show one on your profile
DocumentsOnly youCan change to Anyone with the link or Public
AI chatsPrivateThere are no public chat pages

Note that every link you save shows on your profile, even if it is only in a private notebook. To keep material private, add it as an uploaded file.

Making a notebook public shares only its name, description, resource list, and the documents you have shared. Private documents and AI chats stay private.

Your profile

Your profile lives at commonplot.co/{username}. It shows your avatar, name, bio, and join date, plus two tabs:

  • Saved resources: the public content you've saved (you also see your own uploaded files)
  • Notebooks: your public notebooks (you also see your private ones)

Change your name, username, and bio in Settings → Profile or with Edit profile on your profile. Your username becomes your public URL. Once you publish a document it can no longer change, so links you've shared keep working.

Account and sign-in

In Settings → Account you can:

  • See your sign-in methods (Google, email verification code)
  • Manage Connected apps, such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Hermes
  • Delete your account

Appearance and language

Settings → Appearance sets the theme (System, Light, Dark) and interface language (EN, 中文). These settings apply only to the current device.

Delete your account

Choose Delete account in Settings → Account, type the confirmation word, and finish in the email commonplot sends you. Confirming signs you out on every device, disconnects connected apps, and cancels your subscription. Thirty days later, your saved resources, notebooks, documents, chats, and uploaded files are permanently deleted. To keep your account, sign in again before then; after that, deletion cannot be undone.
